Hello from Keizer, Oregon!

We are home! Yesterday I spent the day doing laundry and cleaning up the motor home. We were surprised to find the backyard looking like a jungle so now yard work is at the top of the "to do" list.

Thanks to all of you who have followed our trip we had a wonderful time. It was great to get to share all of it with my mom. I think she enjoyed every minute of it.

Bill will be posting pictures so continue checking back.

God bless you all,

Hello from just outside Boise, ID!

Our journey is coming to a close. It doesn't seem possible that five weeks have gone by and so quickly. Just when I thought we couldn't see more beautiful country we did while traveling through the Big Horn National Forest in Wyoming. For those of you who studied Genesis, "Creation, The Fall and The Flood" with me several years ago this area made it all come to life! It is a must see for everyone!! I am serious! Bill took a lot of pictures and I will get them posted when we get home. You have to see them but of course pictures can never capture the true beauty. It will be something I will never forget.

Last night we stayed in Cody, Wy it was a fun little town but unfortunately by the time we got into town most of the great little shops had closed. :( Today we drove through Yellowstone, watched "Old Faithful" explode from a distance and headed on. The forest fires in Yellowstone have pushed the wildlife deeper into the forest so we didn't see any bears again this trip, just a couple of buffalo and some moose.

Well we were on the road for 11 hours today and have a long drive tomorrow so I'd better hit the sack. It will be good to get home and see all of you.

Oh Bill got the tick out of Toby's ear in one piece! He isn't showing any signs of being sick, thank goodness and we have the tick in a baggy just in case!

Hello from Mt. Rushmore again!

We were so excited to wake up this morning and see that the weather had cleared up some! Bill and I threw some clothes on and headed up the mountain and had a perfect view of the faces. They are a wonderful sight and I think I especially appreciated them this time because I am reading "The Real George Washington." If any of you get a chance, read it, its great! After Bill shot a million photos (slight exaggeration) we came back to the park and picked up mom and headed for the Crazy Horse monument. Of course I enjoyed every minute of that! We then drove through Custer State Park and Bill got to drive through the Eye of the Needle. Watch for his photos. He has been a photo snapping fool all day! LOL

We must leave here tomorrow morning and start heading for Oregon but we will stop at Deadwood, S.D. and probably Spearfish, S.D. before we get serious about home. We were hoping to go up and see the lighting ceremony on the mountain tonight but the weather is looking pretty bad so we'll see.

Poor Toby has a "tick" on the inside of his ear and I'm wondering about Lyme disease. Bill plans to get it out sometime tonight with a match and tweezers. YIKES!! I will probably faint. I will let you know how it all works out. Please pray for little Toby. There is supposed to be a vet here at 7 am for the horses so Bill plans on talking to him.

Well I feel a good hot shower calling my name. I hope this post finds all of you happy and healthy.

Good Evening from Mt. Rushmore!

Sorry I haven't been able to write to you for a few days and come to think of it there are some huge gaps in our travels so I will try and fill you in. (If I can remember!)

Our original plan was to leave Georgia on Sunday the 31st of May but we took a great detour over to Colombia, S.C. What a beautiful city! Colton had a two-day baseball tournament so we left Georgia a day early on Saturday morning and traveled about 3 hours to Colombia. We watched two games on Saturday, spent the night, got up in the morning and watched his first game before heading to Tennessee. It was hard to say good-bye but was a little easier because we thought we might run into them again in Iowa later in the week.

Sunday night we pulled into Chattanooga, TN!! Our favorite place. Perhaps someday it will be our home! We drove out to Precept Ministries and loaded up on materials for ourselves and a friend and headed out for Nashville. Tuesday morning we started the day at The Grand Ole Opry. It was fun to see and the grounds are absolutely beautiful, something we hadn't expected. We then traveled on to St. Louis and saw the arch. Bill took some great pictures that I will post soon. From St. Louis we drove to Columbia, Missouri and spent the night. The next day we drove on to Omaha, NE and spent Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with Aunt Hannah and Uncle Dwight! We had a wonderful visit and it was nice to be in one place once again.

Saturday, May 6th we drove to Storm Lake, Iowa to Buena Vista University the soon to be new home for Colton. It is a beautiful campus! It was certainly reassuring for me to see where he would be spending the next four years. He had arrived the day before for honors orientation so he already knew the ropes and gave us a guided tour. He is so excited and looking forward to his move in August. With a tearful good-bye this time we moved on to North Sioux City, South Dakota. Did you know there is a N. Sioux City, SD; Sioux City, Iowa and South Sioux City, Nebraska? We were all a little confused initally but finally got it straight. Mom kept telling us she was sure this was something new, there had never been three Sioux cities before lol.

From Sioux City we headed for Niobrara, NE where my mom was raised. I hadn't been there since I was about 12 or so and of course the town had changed. Not grown larger, just moved! Because of flooding on the Missouri River they moved the whole town up on a hill. When I was a kid you would ride a ferry acoss the river into S.D. but now they have built a bridge, no more ferry. :( We stayed two nights in the Niobrara State Park which was absolutely beautiful. Of course this is a new park to me since they move it too! We spent the next few days visiting some of our family but the highlight was taking mom down to Creighton, NE to see her aunt who was turning 94. (Remember my mom is 90) Anyway when we found out the family was having a party for Aunt Marian we decided to surprise mom and stay over an extra day and go to the party. Mom was able to see additional family and we all had a great time so we were happy we stayed.

After the party we moved on toward Rapid City and got as far as Presho, S.D. which was an experience in itself. We stayed in a KOA that was nothing but a mud pit from all the rain. I stayed awake listing for rain all night wondering if Bill would be able to get the motor home out of the muddy space we were in! He did! Yippee!

Today we stopped in Wall, S.D. and saw the famous Wall Drug Store and tonight we are nestled in the Black Hills. We haven't seen Mt. Rushmore yet because of low clouds and rain but we are praying that tomorrow will be better weather. I will keep you posted!

With our little detours we won't be arriving home until Sunday, the 14th but I will keep blogging as long as I have cell service. Hope everyone is well at home, we are beginning to get a little homesick. Mom is holding up pretty well!

Well I think I filled in the gaps of our travels I'm going to have Bill read this and make sure it's all in order, his mind is a little clearer than mine at this point. It seems that one day just runs into another. :)

Until next time..
The Happy Wanderer
